AMBITIONS

I’ve been crafting stories for as long as I can remember, but in 2019 I decided to take the plunge and dedicate myself to writing full time. Since then, I’ve been very fortunate to have had my work featured in a variety of publications. I look at the world through a writer’s lens. I see stories in everyday life just waiting to be told and do my best to be the medium through which they reach the page.  I knew from a very young age that writing would always play an important part of my life. In 2017, I realized I could make a living from the written word and I haven’t looked back since. I like to experiment with various writing styles and techniques. I’m never afraid to tackle any project or find new and creative ways to come up with something fresh and original. Becoming a UF student is probably one of the most important decisions I have ever made because of the great opportunities that have been presented to me . It will also allow me to pursue my career goals as a sports journalist.

Becoming a Gator alumnus has been a dream of mine since I was a child. Then, I admired Tim Tebow as a role model for many aspiring students like myself. During my time at Broward College, I worked my way through the ranks of The Observer campus newspaper, from contributing writer, to an editor position. I also established the first student-led podcast there. Since moving to Gainesville, I have had the privilege to produce stories and create content for some great platforms such as: WUFT News, ESPN Gainesville, CBS Sports and SEC Network.  Those experiences gave me the opportunity to witness the different layers of journalism.

I hope to continue this trajectory as I pursue my bachelor’s degree in journalism at the University of Florida. This degree will bring  me one step closer to stamping myself in the sports industry. In the next 5-10 years, I plan on completing a couple of internships as a beat writer and work my way up to a permanent editor position. I believe I have the grit and dedication to one day achieve that goal.
